Minnesota Vikings safety Anthony Harris announced Sunday through Twitter that he has signed his franchise tender for the 2020 season.
The Vikings placed the franchise tag on Harris back in March.
Per ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Harris will earn a guaranteed $11.441 million this upcoming season. The Pro Bowl safety and the Vikings have two months (July 15) to work out a long-term deal, per Cronin.
The former Virginia star signed with the Vikings after going undrafted in 2015. Last season, Harris tuned in by far his finest season as a pro. He recorded six interceptions - tied with Pro Bowlers Tre'Davious White and Stephon Gilmore for most in the NFL - to go along with 11 passes defended.
Harris helped the Vikings reach the postseason; they upset the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round before falling to the eventual NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
Harris and teammate Harrison Smith formed arguably the best safety duo in the 2020 season, and the Vikings finished with the NFL's fifth best scoring defense - allowing only 18.9 points per game.

Keeping Harris for the 2020 season was a must for the Vikings. They lost four defensive starters this offseason in cornerbacks Trae Waynes and Xavier Rhodes, star pass rusher Everson Griffen and defensive tackle Linval Joseph.
The Vikings were one of the most active teams in the offseason, extending quarterback Kirk Cousins in the offseason on a two-year deal worth $66 million. On top of that, they traded standout wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills for four draft picks, using the No. 22 selection on LSU wideout Justin Jefferson.
The NFC North division should be wide open in 2020, and the addition of a third wild card spot bodes well for the Vikings in a highly competitive NFC. Keeping Harris on one of the league's top defensive units will go a long way in helping Minnesota vie for a playoff spot in 2020.
